The Lie of "Toxic" Masculinity
Culture has spent decades convincing us that masculinity is a disease. We are told that a man’s natural drive to conquer, protect, and lead is inherently dangerous—that his strength is a threat to be medicated, suppressed, or shamed out of existence. We have raised an entire generation of boys to apologize for the way God built them.
But we must make a critical distinction: abuse, manipulation, and violence are not masculinity. They are the exact opposite. When a man uses his physical or positional power to crush women, abandon his children, or terrorize the vulnerable, he is not being "too masculine." He is being a coward. He is displaying the catastrophic failure of a broken boy who never learned how to submit his strength to God.
The enemy does not want to fix toxic behavior; he wants to eliminate masculine protection entirely. Because when you convince strong men that their fire is evil, they lay down their swords. And when men lay down their swords, the wolves walk right through the front door.
True masculinity is not a threat; it is a sanctuary. God designed men with broad shoulders and a warrior’s spirit not to oppress the weak, but to stand between the weak and the darkness. A truly masculine man is terrifying to predators, but he is absolute safety to his wife and children. He does not demand to be served; he lays his life down for his household.
The world does not need emasculated, passive men. It needs men whose strength is tethered to the cross. Do not let a culture of cowards talk you out of the fierce, protective mandate God placed inside you.
