The Suicide of a Single Doubt

We expect the enemy to arrive with a battering ram—to blow up our lives with sudden tragedy, violent addiction, or complete financial ruin. But Satan is a strategist, not a brute. He knows that he doesn't actually have to destroy you. If he can get you to entertain a single thought of doubt, you will eventually destroy yourself.

His strategy has not changed since the Garden of Eden. He didn’t use force to bring down humanity; he used a question: *“Yea, hath God said?”*

That is all it takes. A tiny, quiet whisper questioning God’s goodness, His timing, His forgiveness, or His truth. Once you give that thought a seat at your table, the infection spreads. You start rationalizing your sin. You start second-guessing your marriage, your calling, and your salvation. You pull away from the truth and isolate yourself in a prison of your own anxiety. Satan can simply sit back and watch as you dismantle your own foundation, brick by brick, all because you tolerated a lie that masqueraded as your own critical thinking.

The devil does not need to overpower you if he can outsmart you.

Spiritual warfare is won or lost in the mind. You cannot negotiate with a venomous thought. You cannot casually entertain a lie and expect your faith to survive. You must ruthlessly examine what you allow in your head. When a thought contradicts the nature or the Word of God, you do not coddle it. You do not analyze it. You capture it and you execute it.

Do not let a serpent set up camp in your mind.
