I Want to Know Jesus

God and Our Separation

God made us to know Him and live in fellowship with Him. He is holy, just, and good.

But every one of us has turned from Him. Scripture calls this sin. Sin is more than making mistakes. It is our refusal to trust and obey God as God.

That separation is something we cannot repair on our own. Being more religious, more moral, or trying harder cannot erase our sin or make us right with Him.

Jesus Christ

This is why Jesus Christ matters.

God did not leave us separated from Him. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world and lived without sin. He went willingly to the cross and bore the judgment our sin deserved.

He died and was buried.

He rose again.

The resurrection is not a symbol of hope. It is the declaration that Christ defeated death and that what He accomplished on the cross was enough.

Grace, Repentance, and Faith

Forgiveness cannot be earned.

It is offered by the grace of God through Jesus Christ.

Repentance means turning from sin and surrendering the right to rule your own life apart from God. It means admitting that you need the Savior instead of trying to become your own.

Faith means trusting Jesus Christ: who He is, what He did on the cross, and His resurrection from the dead.

Salvation is not payment for becoming a better person.

It is received by trusting the One who came to save you.

Following Christ

When you come to Christ in repentance and faith, God forgives you and reconciles you to Himself.

But following Jesus does not mean that life suddenly becomes easy or that you immediately have every answer.

It means you are no longer walking alone.

You begin learning His Word, praying, obeying Him, turning away from sin, living among other believers, and allowing the Holy Spirit to change you over time.

Christianity is not simply believing that Jesus existed.

It is belonging to Him.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."

Ephesians 2:8–9

Where Do I Begin?

You do not need a polished prayer or perfect words to come to God.

Talk to Him honestly.

  • Acknowledge your sin.
  • Tell Him you believe Jesus Christ died and rose again.
  • Ask for forgiveness.
  • Place your trust in Christ.
  • Ask Him to teach you how to follow Him.
