Biblical Teaching

Clear instruction from Scripture on salvation, faith, Jesus Christ, the Church, spiritual warfare, Christian living, and the questions believers wrestle with.

These teachings are written to help believers understand Scripture, grow in spiritual maturity, recognize deception, and remain faithful to Jesus Christ. Each teaching begins with the biblical text, considers its context, and applies its truth to Christian life today.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

2 Timothy 2:15

Scripture must be understood on its own terms. A verse separated from its context can be made to say almost anything. These teachings therefore begin with what the biblical text actually says, consider who wrote it, to whom it was written, what surrounds it, and how its truth should faithfully shape the life of the believer.

“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”

2 Peter 3:18

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

1 John 4:1

Boys are More Emotional

When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. And he said, ‘Where have you laid him?’ They said to him, ‘Lord, come and see.’ Jesus wept.

Raising Godly Boys by Their Dad

I am not raising my sons simply to be good boys. I am raising them to become men. That means I want more for them than obedience while they are under my roof.

I Teach My Boys the Greatest Definition of Love: Sacrifice

I teach my boys that the greatest definition of love is sacrifice. I wanted that truth planted in them from the time they were old enough to understand simple words, before the world had the chance to convince them that love is only emotion, attraction, comfort, chemistry, or getting what they want.

The Gospel & Salvation

What Is the Gospel?

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

The Gospel is not advice about how to become a better person. It is the good news of what God has done through Jesus Christ.

What Does It Mean to Be Saved?

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Salvation is more than becoming religious, becoming a better person, or repeating a prayer. Scripture teaches that humanity needs to be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ.

What Does It Mean to Accept Christ?

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.

Christ does not call people merely to acknowledge Him. Scripture speaks of receiving Him, believing on Him, repenting, and following Him.

Religion Without Christ

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Knowing about Jesus is not the same as knowing Him.

What Is Repentance?

Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

Repentance is more than regret. Scripture calls us to turn toward God, acknowledge sin honestly, and believe the Gospel.

What Does It Mean to Follow Jesus?

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

Following Jesus is not a way to earn salvation. It is the life of a person who has heard His call, trusted Him, and is learning to walk in obedience to Him.

What Is Faith?

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Biblical faith is more than believing that God exists. It is trusting Jesus Christ and resting in what God has revealed and promised.

What Is Grace?

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Grace is not God pretending sin does not matter. It is God's undeserved favor toward sinners, made possible through Jesus Christ.

What Is the Bible?

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

The Bible is not merely a collection of religious writings. It is the written Word of God, given through human authors, revealing who God is, what He has done, and how His people are to believe and live.

Who Is the Holy Spirit?

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force or religious feeling. He is God, present with His people, revealing truth, convicting of sin, giving new life, strengthening believers, and glorifying Jesus Christ.

What Is the Church?

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The Church is not merely a building, denomination, or weekly event. It is the people of Jesus Christ, called together to worship God, learn His Word, serve one another, make disciples, and bear witness to the Gospel.

What Is Baptism?

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Baptism does not save us by human effort. It is a commanded act of obedience that publicly identifies the believer with Jesus Christ, His death, burial, and resurrection.

What Is Communion?

For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

Communion, also called the Lord’s Supper, is a commanded act of remembrance, proclamation, fellowship, and self-examination centered on the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

What Is Sanctification?

Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification...

Sanctification is the ongoing work of God in the believer, setting us apart for Himself and shaping us increasingly into the likeness of Jesus Christ.

What Is Assurance of Salvation?

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Assurance is not confidence in how perfectly we have lived. It is confidence in Jesus Christ, His promises, and the evidence of His work in those who belong to Him.

What Is Sin?

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Sin is more than making mistakes or breaking religious rules. It is rebellion against God, a falling short of His holiness, and a condition from which humanity cannot rescue itself.

What Is Temptation?

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren.

Temptation is not the same as sin. It is the enticement toward disobedience, and Scripture teaches believers to recognize it, resist it, flee when necessary, and depend upon God in the fight.

What Is Forgiveness?

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Biblical forgiveness releases vengeance and reflects the mercy we have received from God. It does not require pretending evil never happened, eliminating consequences, restoring trust immediately, or remaining in an unsafe relationship.

Who Is My Brother, and Why Should I Care?

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Jesus calls believers into a spiritual family where love is measured by sacrifice, responsibility, and what we do when another person is in need.

What Is Suffering?

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Suffering is real, painful, and often difficult to understand. Scripture does not ask believers to pretend pain does not hurt. It teaches us how to suffer honestly, faithfully, and with hope in Jesus Christ.

What Is Hope?

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Biblical hope is not wishful thinking. It is confident expectation rooted in the character of God, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the promises He has given His people.

The Anatomy of Immorality: Heart, Culture, and the Holy Standard

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God.

To follow Jesus Christ is to reckon with His unyielding claim over the human heart, the mind, the tongue, and the physical body.
